Students at St Bede’s Academy in Scunthorpe gathered this week to hear the story of a former pupil who is leading the local NHS.

Dr Baig talks with students after the event

Local GP and NHS North Lincolnshire CCG Chair, Dr Faisel Baig, attended St Bede’s.  He went on to study Medicine at The University of Manchester before returning to his hometown of Scunthorpe to work as a GP and “give something back”.

Speaking at the event, Dr Baig said: “I have fond memories of my time at St Bede’s and it was a real privilege to be asked to come back to speak to current students and promote a career in the NHS, as well as the benefits of working in North Lincolnshire.

“I met lots of very talented students at the Academy today and I’m sure they will excel in whatever career they choose.”

Vic Boreham, Careers Leader at St Bede’s, said: “It’s been brilliant to welcome Dr Baig back to St Bede’s to inspire our next generation of healthcare professionals.

“Knowledge is power when it comes to careers and our students now have a valuable insight as to what a career in the NHS is like.”
