The Haven, located at North Lincolnshire Mind Offices at Printer’s Yard in Fenton Street, is designed to help reduce the risk of mental health crisis by providing a safe space for people who urgently need to talk to someone.

The service is provided by North Lincolnshire Mind, and has been commissioned by NHS North Lincolnshire Clinical Commissioning Group, following feedback from mental health peer support groups and those attending a local homeless project that A&E is not a suitable environment for someone experiencing a mental health problem. Commissioners listened to what those with lived experience of mental health were telling them, and working with the local Crisis Care Concordat a model for a drop in support service was developed.

The Haven offers mental health support to people aged 16 and over in North Lincolnshire, when they may need help most. As well as offering support, professionals are also able to refer and direct onwards to further services if required.

Trained mental health support workers can offer self-help guidance and tools to support people to manage thoughts of self-harm, low mood and anxiety. They support people to reduce any immediate crisis and to safety plan; drawing on strengths, resilience, and coping mechanisms to manage their mental health and wellbeing.

The Haven team is available to offer telephone support, call 01724 279500 between 4pm and 12 midnight 7-days a week. Face to face support is available by appointment only. Referrals can also be made by a GP practice, mental health team, social care, police or ambulance service.

People who attend will also be offered a follow-up call the next day to see how they are doing.

In an emergency, please contact the North Lincolnshire Crisis Team on 01724 382015.
