Winterton nurse honoured at Yorkshire and Humber NHS awards

A nurse from Winterton has been honoured at a regional NHS event celebrating excellence in general practice nursing.

Rebecca Wood, who is a Practice Nurse at Winterton Medical Practice, received the Judge’s Choice Award at the NHS Yorkshire and Humber Celebrating General Practice Nursing Awards.

Speaking after the awards, Rebecca said: “I was so surprised and shocked to receive this award. I’ve been here seven years and this is what I love to do, so I never expected to get an award for it. It’s really nice to be recognised for something that you love doing.”

Judges praised Rebecca for her innovative and enthusiastic approach to general practice nursing and commended her for organising an out-of-hours cervical screening clinic for Winterton patients to boost uptake.

Dr Faisel Baig, Chair at NHS North Lincolnshire CCG, said: “Nurses are the beating heart of our workforce and I’m delighted for Rebecca to have won this award.

“It’s fantastic for her incredible work to be recognised by NHS England and I sincerely thank her for her contribution to the local health service here in North Lincolnshire.”
